Infant-Toddler Specialist Network

Through a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission, CLI is establishing and supporting a statewide network of early childhood specialists (including coaches, mentors, trainers, and others) who support teachers in infant and toddler classrooms. The goal of the network and this project is to improve the quality of infant and toddler experiences in classrooms across the state, and particularly in under-served communities.

CLI will build upon more than 15 years of experience implementing the Texas School Ready project to provide a model that specialists can use to comprehensively support infant and toddler teachers through a variety of online tools, materials, and resources. A comprehensive professional development strategy for the specialists participating in the network, including professional learning communities to support collaborative sharing and learning, is the core of the network's ongoing support for specialists.

Leveraging existing state tools and resources on CLI Engage and the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System, these systems will serve as the foundation of the network's activities. The systems currently offer resources to support infant and toddler teacher professional development and career advancement.

The project will include supporting professional development online and in-person through collaborative sessions, delivering face-to-face trainings for specialists and teachers, and developing a toolkit for specialists that will be freely available on a new website:
