Melisa Smith is a dedicated leader in early childhood education and is the Assistant Director for Texas State Initiatives, leading the Texas Infant-Toddler Specialist Network (ITSN). Ms. Smith oversees strategic initiatives that empower and connect professionals and expand educational opportunities for children. Her interests include high-quality professional development and implementation, supportive accountability, strategic planning, and building collaborative partnerships. With more than 20 years of experience, she excels in program development and elevating the workforce to improve child outcomes. Melisa’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement drives her work to support educators and advance early learning statewide.
Melisa Smith received her master’s degree in early childhood education from Stephen F. Austin State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Prior to joining The Children’s Learning Institute (CLI) in 2019, Ms. Smith served as an early childhood teacher, administrator, and as a coach and trainer supporting educators in public and private schools.
